Week-end in Positano

Je viens de rentrer d'un week-end à Positano, c'était trop bien! Il faisait chaud et beau et la mer était magnifique!! Je n'ai pris que quelques photos avec mon iPhone, mais c'était tellement beau que j'ai quand même envie de les partager avec vous! ;)

I just came back from a week-end in Positano, it was too good! It was hot and sunny and the sea was wonderful!! I just took a couple of pictures with my iPhone, but it was so beautiful that I still want to share them with you! ;)

Looking for perfection

Comme vous le savez, nous avons tourné une 2ème version de “Dico-tomie” il y a 2 semaines. Hervé a monté le film, mais finalement il n’était pas satisfait d’une scène. Nous l’avons donc retournée samedi après-midi.

Le problème était que nous n’étions pas naturelles. Dans la scène on était en train de prendre le petit-déjeuner dans la cuisine, sauf qu’on était debout, toutes les choses à manger étaient derrière nous…bref c’était bizarre. On avait tourner et retourner cette scène, on continuait à ne pas être naturelles… Finalement on a eu l’idée de tourner dans le salon, en train de prendre le petit déjeuner assises à la table à manger, ce qui est une situation beaucoup plus normale… et du coup tout s’est bien passé! On a joué la scène juste 2 fois et c’était dans la boite!

C’est bizarre comme juste un petit changement de décor peut changer complétement la façon de jouer…
Je pense que là je pourrai vraiment vous montrer le film très bientôt!!

As you know, we shot « Dico-tomie 2 » 2 weeks ago. Hervé edited it, but eventually he was not happy with one scene. So we filmed it again Saturday afternoon.

The problem was that we were not natural. In the scene we were having breakfast in the kitchen, but we were standing with all the breakfast food behind us… it was weird! We shot and shot, but still it was not natural… We eventually have the idea of filming the scene in the living room with us having breakfast on the dining table, that is much more a normal situation… and everything was fine! We just needed to shoot the scene twice to have it done! That’s weird as just changing a little something can completely change the way of playing one scene…

Well now I think I’ll be really able to show you the movie really soon!!

And to keep the light standing... an oven dish and some old magazines...why not?! it's working... ;p

Breakfast is my favorite meal... I ate too many slices of brad and jam while filming this scene! 

6 hours & 50 minutes in Rome

Mon agent italien m’a appelée mardi après-midi pour me dire qu'un directeur de casting voulait me voir pour un rôle assez important dans un nouveau téléfilm pour la RAI. C'est la deuxième fois qu'il m'appelle pour ce film (vous vous souvenez le casting que j'avais passé il y a un mois à Rome...) a priori c'est donc bon signe. Evidemment c'est à la dernière minute: le casting est jeudi après-midi. Ni un ni deux je réserve mes billets d'avions et je commence à étudier le texte pour l'audition.

Comme je dois travailler jeudi matin et aussi vendredi... bah je suis partie jeudi à midi et demi, atterrissage à 14h30, j'ai couru à mon audition, qui s'est plutôt bien passée, je suis allée faire un coucou rapide à mon agent et suis retournée à l'aéroport pour prendre l’avion de 20h20. Total du temps passé sur place : 6 heures et 50 minutes... qu'est-ce que ça peut être bizarre et fatigante parfois la vie d'une actrice! ;)

J'espère tellement d'avoir ce rôle!! Ça serait trop bien!! Et puis j'en ai marre de faire plein d'efforts pour rien... Croisez les doigts pour moi!!

My Italian agent called me last Tuesday afternoon to tell me a casting director wanted to see me for an important role in a new film for RAI television. It's the second time he calls me for this movie (do you remember I had an audition last month in Rome...), so it's a good sign. Obviously it's a last minute call: the audition is Thursday afternoon. I immediately booked my plane tickets and started studying the text for the audition.

As I had to work Thursday morning as well as Friday... Well I took the plane at 12.30pm, arrived in Rome at 2.30pm, ran to my audition, which was pretty good, stopped by my agent for a quick hello and ran again to the airport to take the 8.20pm plane. Total time in Rome 6 hours and 50 minutes... An actress’ life can be really weird and tiring sometimes! ;)

I hope so much to get this job!! It would be too good!! Plus, I'm tired of making so many efforts for nothing... Cross your fingers for me!!

Even if there's no one else, I had to wait almost half an hour before starting the audition. With my music on : it helps me to stay focused and relaxed!

Jean-François Schramme exhibition @ Hotel Lutetia

La semaine passée j'ai été invitée au vernissage de l'exposition de l'artiste Jean-François Schramme à l’hôtel Lutetia. Son travail est vraiment particulier et intéressant. Petit coup de cœur pour l'enfant à la crête de pilules et au biberon-mitraillette!

Si vous souhaitez en voir plus c'est jusqu'au 31 aout.

Last week, I've been invited to the opening of artist Jean-François Schramme exhibition at Hotel Lutetia. His work is quite unique and interesting. Small crush on the pills-mohican child with the feeding-bottle-gun!

If you want to see more, the exhibition runs till August the 31st.

"Dico-tomie 2" - work in progress

Nous avons décidé de re-tourner ‘‘Dico-tomie’’, notre film qui avait été primé lors du concours 24h-le défi.

En effet, on trouve l’histoire chouette et intéressante, mais ayant réalisé le film en 24 heures, il y avait certaines choses qui n’étaient pas très soignées et rendaient le film pas présentable à d’autres festivals.

C’est chose faite le week-end passé ! :) Maintenant le film est au montage, il reste une dernière scène à tourner et j’ai hâte de voir le résultat final ! :D

Je pense qu’il sera bien malgré les galères qu’on a eu cette fois aussi (ah! les joies du court-métrage!!) : le tournage repoussé maintes fois pour indisponibilité d’un membre ou un autre de l’équipe, le nouveau cadreur-directeur photo qui nous lâche à une semaine du tournage en nous laissant en plus sans lumières (!!!), la personne en charge de la direction d’acteurs qui a eu de très bonnes idées mais qui prévoyaient le changement de plusieurs scènes du film à 2 jours du tournage…

Mais je suis confiante que le résultat sera bien quand même!!

Et puis la vie serait ennuyante sans quelques imprévus, non?! ;)

We decided to re-shoot "Dico-tomie", our movie that was awarded at the 24-le défi competition.
Indeed, we think the plot is nice and interesting, but having made the whole movie in 24 hours, there were a couple of things that weren't very accurate and made the movie not presentable to other festivals.
So we finally made it last week-end! :) Now it's being edited, we still have one last scene to shoot and I can't wait to see the result! :D
I think it will be good despite all the problems we've been through this time again (ah! the joys of short movies!): Filming postponed repeatedly for unavailability of a member or another of the crew, the new cameraman-director of photography that abandoned us one week before the shooting and moreover leaving us with no lights (!!!), the actors coach who had some very good ideas but that made us to change several scenes 2 days before filming... 
But I am confident that the result will be good anyway! 
Plus, wouldn't life be boring without a few surprises?! ;)

For ever Jack

Les deux dernières semaines ont été assez pleines car j’avais repris mon stage de théâtre.

J’étudie avec un prof génial, Jack Waltzer. C’est un américain, membre de l’Actors’ studio, qui a travaillé avec les meilleurs réalisateurs et acteurs et qui a une expérience et une sensibilité énormes!

Ça fait plusieurs années que j’étudie avec lui et il a complétement changé ma façon d’aborder le jeu et surtout la construction d’un personnage. Et je finis jamais d’apprendre!

Par contre les périodes où je suis en cours sont très intenses: parfois je sors de classe littéralement lessivée et c’est vrai que je continue à penser et à réfléchir sur ce qui vient de se passer même une fois le cours terminé.

Je dois avouer que cette année je n’ai pas été très présente en cours: faute de temps et de moyens surtout! ;) Et là ça m’a fait un bien fou de reprendre! Mais hier ça a été le dernier cours avant la reprise en septembre :(

Et pour me ressourcer ce soir je pars à la mer surfer jusqu’à dimanche! :))

J’espère qu’il y aura du soleil car là j’en peux plus du gris et de la pluie de Paris!

The last 2 weeks have been quite full as I went back to my acting workshop.

I study with an exceptional coach, Jack Waltzer. He’s an American guy, Actors’ studio member, who has worked with top directors and actors and has got a huge experience and sensitivity!

It’s been several years that I study with him and he completely changed my way of approaching the playing and above all the construction of a character. And I keep on learning so much!

But his workshop is very intense: sometimes at the end of the class I’m really washed out and I keep on thinking and analyzing what happened in class over and over again.

I must say this year I didn’t go to class very often: lack of time and resources especially! ;) And here to go back to the workshop made me feel so good! But yesterday was the last class until September :(

And to recharge myself, tonight I’m gonna to the beach surfing till Sunday! ;))

I hope it’s gonna be sunny as the gray and the rain of Paris, I can’t take it anymore!

18 hours in Rome

Mercredi 17h, mon agent italien m'appelle: j'ai une audition vendredi matin pour un rôle assez important dans une nouvelle fiction pour la tv. Ni un ni deux, je réserve mes billets et d'avion et je passe la soirée à étudier mon texte. Jeudi soir après le travail départ pour Rome, j'arrive à 23h complètement épuisée.

Vendredi matin je vais au casting. J'ai du attendre une demi-heure avec des acteurs super stressés qui continuaient à répéter leur texte (franchement si tu n’as pas étudié ton texte à l'avance, ce n'est pas 10 minutes avant le casting que tu va l'apprendre!) et en plus j'étais fatiguée du coup j'ai l'impression que ça s'est mal passé... Mais en fait la vérité c'est que probablement c'était plutôt bien: on m'a fait jouer ma scène une seule fois et le directeur de casting m'a dit: "Bravo! C’était bien! Bonne chance.".

En général on dit que quand on te demande de jouer la scène une seule fois, c'est que c'est vraiment bien, car autrement le directeur de casting donne des indications pour que le jeu soit modifié et fait refaire la scène une deuxième voire une troisième fois.

Mois j'ai toujours le doute qu'en fait quand on me fait faire la scène une seule fois c'est parce-que c'est tellement merdique qu'il n'y a pas d'espoir et c'est inutile d'insister...

Mais bon, quand ensuite je suis passée faire un petit coucou à mon agent et elle a su que je n'avais fait la scène qu'une fois elle était toute contente et sure que c’était bon signe!

Fini le boulot place au plaisir: je suis allée chercher mes neveux à l’école et j'ai passé l'après-midi avec eux, jusqu'à 17h quand j'ai repris l'avion direction Paris... Qu'est-ce que ça peut être fatiguant parfois la vie d'une actrice! ;)

De plus ce soir je fais une soirée chez moi... du coup là il faut que retourne faire la cuisine, la pause est finie! ;)

Wednesday 5pm, my Italian agent calls me: I've got an audition Friday morning for a quite important role in a new fiction for the TV. I immediately book my plane tickets and spend the night studying the scene for the audition. Thursday evening after work, departure for Rome, where I land at 11pm, completely exhausted.

Friday morning I go to the audition. I had to wait half an hour with some super stressed actors that keep on repeating their lines (frankly if you didn’t study the lines in advance it's not 10 minutes before the casting that you're gonna learn it!) plus I was tired, so I feel like it didn't go very well... But in fact the truth is that probably my audition was pretty good: I played my scene just once and the casting director told me: "Bravo! It was good! Good luck.”

Usually they say that when you do the scene just once it means it’s really good, otherwise the casting director gives you some guidance to change the way you play it and then ask you to do it a second or a third time.

But I'm always afraid, when they ask me to play a scene only one time, that is because I was so pitiful that there's no hope and it's useless to insist...

But yet, when after that I stopped by to say hello to my agent and I told her the casting director asked me to do the scene just once, she was really happy and sure it was a good sign!

After the work, the pleasure: I went to take my nephews at school and spent the afternoon with them, till 5pm when I took another plane back to Paris... Sometimes it can be really tiring the life of an actress! ;)

And tonight I'm throwing a party at my place... therefore I have to go back to the kitchen, the break is over! ;)
